Tracking Data - 1 Million GPS-Points of 4 Trucks, ach converted to 100km Grid-Elements (Open AreaSeals)

The below content is a standard  Microsoft power BI dashboard, On the left our Smart-Grid Map is showing the count of AreaSeals-100km according to legends distributed as Logistic Vehicles stamped on different Areas of Middle Europe distribruted in 100 km Grid elements.

Whereas, on the right side we see pie chart and bar chart showing corresponding related data .The dashboard is interactive and filters the density of each vehicle in an insightful manner. Please test yourself by clicking or selecting any vehicle to see relevant analytics:

  • single select and de-select: [left mouse-button]
  • multi-select or de-select: [Crl] + [left mouse-button]
  • de-select all just clicking at the same visual on a non-data spot

The power of interactivity is  shown here. Simply by choosing any one/ multiple grid element or any one/ multiple centroid, the visual selects and highlights them.

If there is any other visual in the dashboard it will filter and show the relevant data in those visuals based on the selected grid elements, centroids, bubbles or pie-cakes (legends).

Step by Step Guide

For Easy Integration in Your BI-Dashboard

The input of centroid or centre points (x , y) as we can see in the video, has been shown manually that by inserting data of center points in an input field of Microsoft Power BI, the centroids are displayed on the Smart-Grid Map with the option to switch the them ON or OFF.

And further with the option of customization that directly reflects on the Smart-Grid Map, includes size changing, fill opacity and color selection with the option to „reset of default value“.

Moreover, Tooltip option can be switched On and OFF as well, when switched ON, please hoover on centroids to see relevant data insights.

In this video on right side, it has been shown manually that by inserting data of all the 4 corner points of a grid element (x and y) in an input field of Microsoft Power BI, the grids are displayed on the Smart-Grid Map with the option to switch the grid elements ON or OFF.

And further with the option of customization: color of line and fill, line thickness and fill opacity with the option to „reset of default value“.

Moreover, Tooltip option can be switched On and OFF, when switched ON please hoover on element grids to see relevant data insights.

In this video the Bubble size parameter is inserted into build visual section as an input with same data of step 3. as we can see the bubble sizes are now visible in Smart-Grid-Map according to total count of input (distinguished count is also possible by pressing down arrow of your data that has been inserted in bubble size field), the centroids are now in irregular sizes with an option to switch them ON or OFF.

And further with the option of customization that directly reflects on the Smart-Grid Map includes all the features working simlarly as in step 1, 2 and 3.

Tooltip option can be switched On and OFF too, when switched ON please hoover on bubbles to see relevant data insights.

Now, the legend parameter is inserted into build visual section as an input with same data as of step 4.

we can see the bubble sizes are now divided into pie-cakes according to the data behind, randomly categorizing the pie-charts with respect to color distribution and the pie-cakes are sized as per the total count of input (distinguished count is also possible by pressing down arrow of your data that has been inserted in bubble size field), the legends bar on top left can be switched ON or OFF.

And further with the option of customization that directly reflects on the Smart-Grid Map includes font color selection, font type & size and background color including all the features of personalization explained in step 1 and 2.

Tooltip option can be switched On and OFF too, when switched ON please hoover on pie-cakes to see relevant data insights.
